To recover from all the work :) I had the brown porter (from Smudge I think) yum, thats what I planned on making today but will do tomorrow, just finished Billygoats ESB, bewdiful, the only problem the wife liked it too so I had to share.

Think I'll have manticles Duvel whilst cooking the bbq, then finish the night with cocko's IPA whilst falling asleep on the couch.

Thanks for organising the buy Matt was much appreciated now what do I do first :kooi:

There are no secrets amongst the brewerhood...

This was no-chilled into 2 x 16lt FWK cubes, and was really stretching the limits of my system.

The cube hops absorbed so much wort that I only managed to squeeze ~14lt into the fermenter.

I had the other cube ... used 50g Simcoe in lieu of the Magnum and fermented with American Ale II ... they turned out uniquely different.

Either way, it's got a lovely hop bite, ethanolic warmth, oodles of flavour, a real winner. Even my father in law who drinks all but Boags Draught found it enjoyable!

that could explain the look on Fiona's face when she tried it :)

that's quite a bit of "aroma" hops  , I only got some hop astringency when it warmed up, bloody nice beer I think I'm ready to head off to bed now though :icon_drunk: did FG finsh high 1.019 ish range ?

Thats a new hop order right there! LOL

Cheers. Over the detectable IBU range too I see....I'll be the only one in the house that drinks that by far too, not a bad thing ;)

Hi mxd,

Thanks for all the messing about you have done in the last month or two for all of us brewers

Had a look in my records last night, ended up at an SG of 1.013.

That full, viscous mouth-feel you're misinterpretting for a high FG? That's hop oils coating your tongue. Yeah, baby! :beerbang:

My pleasure, mate, glad you like it.

It's, umm, got some hops in it ;)

Thanks for the grain pickup Warmbeer and an even bigger thanks for the IIPA. I puckered myself through the bottle that night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be making it next. It was reminiscent of my American brewery hop last year. It really was superb.

so... anyones malt running out yet? :p

I missed out on this buy and I'm down to 5kg of pilsner malt from the previous one, I'm itching for the next bulk buy.

Yup. Could use some Trad Ale or Marris Otter myself - if a new bulk buy pops up I'm leaping on it like a rodeo cowboy.
:D

Hopper.
