Torrified wheat - Can it be done at home

I want to make a Wit next week, so, I just went and bought 2 kilos of plain wheat and put about a 1/3 cup into a popcorn maker and ran it for about 1 minute until I could no longer hear any wheat popping. Easy peasy and the Torrified wheat looks great.

Tried microwave poping, god that I sow your result, because I expected to end up more popcorn look like with poped grain. Then i read that there is 3 tipes of weat regarding hardnes od skul, thought I have the hardest kind
 
Do I need to wait for 2 weeks before using torrified wheat , like other homemade malt -grain
