Anyone catch this show, I thought it was great showing how the young folk in Britain caught on to the grass roots blues coming from the black folk in America that the white folk were ignoring. From Bob Dylan, The Stones, The Animals, The Who and finishing with Cream (I thought Ginger Baker was fairly conceited) releasing Disreali Gears. I can't wait for next week, with Pink Floyd and the early Glam Rock crowd. I hope Led Zep gets a good showing. Yes I am a dinosaur.

I saw it, I thought the bit with the Kinks guitarist explaining early distortion via lacerated speakers was awesome.

I wanted to hear 'Paint it Black' by both The Stones and Burdon... Oh well.

I heard once from someone involved in the UK rock scene at the time that he was a character, but I did not realise how arrogant Ginger Baker is.

Very good doco.

Excellent program. Plenty of footage I'd never seen before - especially the Kinks and the Who.
The crossover from the "67 Summer of Love" to the darker 1968 was particularly good.
Gimme Shelter and Sympathy for the Devil - doesn't get much better than that.

Yeah, I'm a dinosaur too.

Awesome drummer though with a very unique style, Cream really punched out some amazing stuff for a 3 piece..

I'm willing to extend some slack to truly talented people & Ginger was good.
[He is one of my fav. 3, along with Keith Moon & Johnny Bonham.]
I love shows like this.
I love them not just for the insight, but also for bringing back memories & getting me back in touch with music I have not bashed on the stereo for ages.
I have had "Like a Rolling Stone" running through my head since and finally dragged out the LP.
Got as far as Desolation Row until the Mrs asked me if this was ok for kiddies. Bugger it.
Pulled out some old Chess LP's of Howling Wolf and been dancing around the floor with my 6 yr old girl.

Can't wait to take her to her 1st Blues gig.

Looking fwd to the next install.

Off to play some early Stones, Who & John Mayall's Bluesbreaker's LP's

Pete

PS Blind Faith didn't get a mention....I guess 'cause the show finished off in '68.
More Ginger on drums!

What a coincidence, watched this episode here in the UK Thursday night. Seen the series before and this episode and the next one where outstanding, it was the era I grew up in. If I ever look as rough as Kieth Richards now looks I would have lived to 100.

the Mrs asked me if this was ok for kiddies

Dylan should be MANDATORY for the kids. If you left it up to children-friendly broadcast media to inform your children on music, they would only grow to know innuendo-laden pop sung by impossibly thin, re-touched, glamour models wearing clothes that are only large enough to prevent them being legally defined as nude, gyrating in a manner that is best described as "I can't believe it's not pornography". Not to mention the fact that the music was written via board meetings and focus groups, and the vast majority of the work was done in post production.

Don't rate it at all.. :p

Doesn't have Staus Quo

/Propaganda post starts here/

They have:

118 000 000 album sales

64 British hit singles - more than any other band - 22 of which have hit the Top Ten.

106 appearances on BBC TV's 'Top of the Pops' - More than any other group.

more hit albums (32) in the British Albums Chart than any other band apart from The Rolling Stones.

hold the record for more hit singles than any other band, both international and British, in UK chart history

perform their first ever show at the renowned Glastonbury Festival turning in a performance that is the highlight of the whole weekend

and opened Live Aid

40+ years and still going strong.

/Propaganda post ends here/

But they are in Aus next March, including the close out of the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide (much better than Cold Chisel in Sydney lol)

Cheers

PS Loving the show!!!

Here is another FACT: Status Quo is a chick band.

Loved tonights show, I never knew The Velvet Underground had Andy Warhol as a manager. Lots on my favourite band PF, though I wonder when/if we are going to see Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and all the other great 70s bands.

cheers

Maybe there'll be an episode devoted to heavy rock.
And what about Jimi Hendrix - no mention at all yet.
