Don't want to muscle in on Sully's turf, but I've been looking into getting some test tubes for myself as I missed out on the last bulk buy. I can get the 10ml (16mm x 97mm) flat bottomed polycarbonate test tubes (with lids) in packs of 1000. I could split the packs into 25's or 50's. Pricing for the test tubes and postage is likely to be similar to the previous bulk buy. Is there anyone that would be interested in a bulk buy of these?

If it's like the cartons I got, the tubes are in packs of 100 and all the caps are in one big bag :blink: , and to top it off the weights were inconsistant so they were all counted one by one to make sure. If you have kids its a great job for them .

EDIT: I hope everyone has got their tubes safely. I havent had any PMs stating they havent so I assume all is good.

BTW: only up to 100 can fit in a 3kg post satchel and you can just squeeze 50 in a 500g satchel but not much padding so a 3kg is safer anyways. 150 in a small carton is approx $11.00 IIRC.

I got mine safe and sound...they are a great size and you wouldn't want any less than 50.

Got mine a while ago - in the heat my first slants melted! Yeast dropped to bottom and now no good. <_<
Have backup yeast in fridge so all good.
Finished my home made test tube holders yesterday arvo, will post pics tonight hopefully.

I would suggest go for at least 50 per batch also, 25 is hardly worth it and more painful for the organiser (counter!)

Sully's eye's must have gone troppo after trying to count that many clear tubes at once!

I have just realised I never confirmed the arrival of mine. They took a while but this was the archaic postal system we have up here. The postmans horse apparently died between bundy and agnes. Thanks Sully, organising things like this for the troops is the coolest.

They are polycarbonate so they withstand heat (ie boiling water/steam) for sterilising. All the details for yeast culturing & sterilising are HERE & HERE
