Hey guys,

This is my first time posting here - sorry if its in the wrong section!

I have just recently started home brewing - and Iam constantly paranoid about whether or not my equipment is sufficiently sterilized!

I was hoping you could give me some advice on bottle sterilization: If I wash and sterilize the and leave them hanging upside down in a drying rack - would they remain sterlie in time for bottling day, which may be a week from the time I washed the bottles? Have you guys had any problems with it?

Thanks!!

Some more details about what you wash them in and what you sanitise them in would be useful.
If they are properly cleaned and sanitized they should be fine to store upside down until it's time to use them, however personally I like to give my bottles a rinse with no-rinse sanitiser (StarSan) just prior to use.

Assuming the've been sanitised effectivly they may be buy I would wrap some foil over the openings to be sure. But like above I personally would give them a shot of no-rinse sanitiser just before filling

+1 invest in a no rinse sanitiser such as starsan or iodofor. For around $35 it effectively buys you a thousand litres of sanitising-strength solution.

1. Clean after use

2. Sanitise before use, meaning prior to use not days before.

+1 to that, I clean well and store in a box in the cupboard inside... but I find even when I know how spotless they are.. on bottle day they always end up with a no rinse sanitiser through them.. I look at them.. I know they are clean.. I dont take the chance. er.. I may well be a bit OCD on sanitation though ;)

.. but it works for me... others may do more or less and it works for them... welcome to the site and the obsession too by the way

Thers are loads of threads here and with a little 'searching' there is much info available... good luck

Great approach, the 7P's principal = good brewer

Cheers,
