I've got a few brumby taps that came with various cheap should have known better purchases

just like these ones..

one was gummed so hard i broke the handle trying to 'convince' it open! another is dripping...

i've undone the handle and taken out the 'gear lever' handle bits and soaked in pbw etc but it's still sticky..

is there a way to get the 'plunger' out? i'm struggling to see how the tap is attached to the 'shank' (the tiny little shank with built in elbow....

any tips?

(oh i've got perlicks enroute for my main rig - i want to use these for party setups etc )
cheers

does this help?

kind of sort of... andale was the only site i saw an exploded view, but their taps screw onto the shank/snaplock etc... these cheap ones almost look like they're crimped or something stupid.. i hope not

Do you have a shank-ring on your tap... its a little ring about 1cm wide with 4 holes around the perimeter.

If so, you might want to get a faucet spanner to undo it

Its pictured in your ebay links, and actually on the right of the exploded image...

If their like mine and came with a shank, then undo it with a faucet shank spanner thing prelinked above.
Shank will pop out with a giant spring (don't lose it) - this spring provides the forward pressure and once removed the rest pretty much falls apart.

When you get the tap off the shank remove the handle and brass lever and push the plunger out from the front, there are two pinholes in the main body[can be hard to see]that blockup and cause the tap to drip, make sure they are clean
I've used two of these "crappy"taps for about 3 years and with reg cleaning-every 4 kegs I have had no probs with them, you would be amazed at the amount of shit that gets in them after only 4 kegs, I'd hate to be drinking beer from a tap that hasn't been cleaned for months :icon_vomit:

And if you get perlicks, then as long as you give the nozzle a starsan spray every now and again they stay clean for months
