Fridays result is 1016 so something still happening. Had a peep in through the airlock hole as I'm understandably nervous (see infection thread) and it looks ok I think. Smooth black surface for the most part with a few bubbles about the place.

When I took the sample the beer came out, and tasted, a little bit fizzy. Is this normal as I would have expected it to be flat?

Nah mate, little bit of fizz is pretty normal.
