Been brewing on and off since the 70's, Kit and sugar, then more recently Kit and booster.
After finding this forum 2 years ago I moved to Controlling temperature, adding finishing hops, re hydrating yeast, Steeping grains.

Now, with help and support of PistolPatch, Katie and LLoydie I've done my first AG.

Just did a simple Ale,
4.5Kg Ale malt,
300g Crystal,
15g Chinook @60Min
10g Cascade @20
10g Cascade @flameout

All went well, easy really (except for dropping the stockpot lid in the fishpond and pouring the yeast and hops packets into the mash!)

Did a 90 min mash, held between 68C and 63C
then mashout at 75C and a 90 min boil then siphoned into the nochill

Ended up with Exactly 23L into the fermenter ( thanks to Patch's the Setup Volumes spreadsheet)
