I'd be surprised if you have any "liquid sterilizer that i use for all my brewing".
You might have liquid sanitiser, but there is a difference between sanitising something and sterilising.

When brewing or bottling beer, there are other contributing factors (active yeast or an amount of alcohol) which means that sanitising your equipment is an adequate safe-guard.
In the case of most jams, preserves and sauces careful sterilisation of equipment and bottling hot is generally required since there are not many other contributing factors that would minimise chances of infection from unwanted yeasts, bacteria or other bugs.

When I recently made my chilli sauce I boiled my bottle and lid for 10mins.
