Since upgrading to an Italian spiral burner with medium pressure reg. the walls around the base of my Robinox pot have started to discolour and go blue. My burner is the type with the built in stand so I can't easily put more distance between the it and the pot, but what I'd like to know is have others increased the distance or not? The flames reach up and spread along the bottom of the pot but I try to keep it so they don't lick around the sides though. However if I turn the burner down so that just the tips of flames are tickling the pot base then I don't really get much improvement with this burner over my old 4 ring jobby. Any tips to stop this happening, and is the bluing reversible now or too late?

Is your kettle aluminum or SS?

It's stainless, 50L so it sits on the burner stand pretty well to the edges.

i've got a 4ring with a med reg and its turning rainbow colours on the inside of the pot. my pots Aluminium tho and no blue on the base of it sorry.

you could weld another frame up that sits "over" the exisiting one but thats a PITA. have to be an easier way surely.

It's nothing to worry about - only cosmetic. Good name for a brewery: The Blue Kettle Brewery.

Dont turn it up so high that the flames cook the sides of the kettle. Ive got exactly the same set up. Turn down the reg, not the burner.
