Hi All,
I'm going to be in Canberra for the next few days. No doubt a night at the Wig.
Does anyone know if any pubs in Canberra sell Sierra Nevada? I will be with a fledgling Craft Beer lover.
Thanks,
mckenry

You poor ******* mckenry, that 'instruments workshop' you're going to- you'll be bored utterly shitless for two whole days, but remember to take some string and sticky tape to hold it all together. Oh, say Hello and behave yourself to my colleague Kate, you'll know when you've met her.
For sourcing SN you could always try Dans? I doubt they will have the seasonal, but IMO Tumbler isn't worth tracking down any way. However, there's not one near where you will be (inner North side). You may just have to make do!

I'd sooner go to Sierra Nevada than Canberra any day. Highlight of my Canberra trip was watching them make $2 coins. Oh, and the miniature English Village was a rave as well. How much excitement can one man take. Apparently the Wig and Pen is ok if you don't mind being hammered with C hops, from what I've heard.

Bribie,
Next time your in Canberra look me up and I'll show you around. We have a large collection of public art (paid for by the tax payer)to admire, including the 2 examples below

Apparently it's an owl.

This sculpture is located right in the middle of the night club area. You can only imagine what happens to this poor sheep in the early weekend hours.

It's no wonder we enjoy homebrewing. :D

Holy shit. Did Trafalgar tours plan your itinerary or something?

Canberra rocks.
Summernats, War memorial, colorful porn shops, giant roundabouts, um - that interactive science joint - and there must be literally a few other things to see and do.

Hey BribieG,
Been to the Wig a few times. Going back, so that says something. Dont mind my C hops anyway. Just wondered if any pubs in Canberra were selling it.

Such a view of Canberra, obviously you have long experience of the place

The wig has far more than C hops, it's a great pub with quite a few beers to choose from, so if you've not been there before you can't really slag it off

Next time in Canberra go straight to the wig and work your way through the menu. Also if you hadn't gone to the George IV opposite cockington green you've missed out on one of the best pints of guiness around.

Haha believe it or not I actually did have a pint of Guinness there after touring the model village :p

That was in 1983 so I'm pleased to hear it's still going strong.

often go to the George for lunch after wandering round the model village. So often in fact the kids want to go to the pub for their birthday parties!

I'd have to agree with Bribie G, every time I've been there, it seemed that so many of the wig beers had some kind of American hops, even though there's only a sprinkling of American styles on the menu (including seasonals). Nice enough beers in their own right but few seemed to be hopped with varieties that aligned with the style and it really left me wondering and a bit disappointed. I can't remember the specifics and while its a great pub with such a variety of their own beers, that's the one suggestion I'd make. I'd definitely go back though, no question about that as the beers shit all over the usual suspects.

Pints of Guinness, anywhere here in Aus that are any good- what, they BUL there? Everywhere else has the crappy, locally- brewed, thin watery muck which is not a patch on the Guinness of years gone by, I just don't bother with it any more.

I've just been out shopping and had a tallie of Guinness 6% looking out over Pumicestone Passage checking out the rain on the water. Not a bad drop and unique to Australia, but I'd agree the stuff in the pubs on tap is pretty ordinary 4.3% nitrocrap.
