Hello ...

I thought I would try a second stage ferment and siphoned it into another fermenter... now been there for one week.

I would like to know how to determine the right amount of priming sugar(dextrose) to use as the guy at the home brew shop said that I probably should have not done so as I prob might need the yeast to gas the bottles.

I was going to do a bulk prime and what I can find on the net I might use about 90 grams of dextorse.

Also should I rouse it at all ..

thanks alot.

Hi,

Go to the articles section at the top of this site, and there is a top article on all the ins and outs of bulk priming.
Very usefull read, and will answer all your questions.
Also links you to calculators to work out how much to put in, depending on volume and fermenting temperatures.

How big is the brew?
If it is 23L, a general rule is to bulk prime with about 170-180gms of sugar.

Also, racking it to a secondary vessel will not have left out too much of the yeast. It may not be obvious but there are still plenty of them in the beer to carbonate your bottles.

Good luck
