Full control - no subscription. They sell various beer packs that include an rfid tag you swipe against the machine which programs the unit for the particular style of beer you’re brewing. But you can make your own recipes as well if you have ‘Master mode’. This is a rfid tag that unlocks the ability to do as you want. My unit came with this included but it’s an optional extra if buying today.

Hey Beefcake. What fermentation pressures were you using?

As you know we use two silicone o-rings on the pill hydrometer. Silicone is a great o-ring material as it's got good spring properties and is fairly chemically resistant. One of the issues with silicone is that it has high gas transmission rate meaning both oxygen and co2 and other gasses can pass through the silicone.

When the fermenter is under pressure CO2 gradually seeps into the pill housing through the o-rings. From our testing this is fine and has not significant impact to the accuracy but if the gas in the pill gets too great and then all of a sudden the external atmosphere drops in pressure(ie you open the all rounder lid) the gas cannot be released out of the pill housing fast enough and this can cause the pill housing to pop open. From our experience this is extremly rare and the only time we have heard of this is when customers are fermenting at higher than recommended pressures. Generally speaking we recommend fermenting at about 2-10psi. If the fermenter is at an elevated pressure (above 20psi) for a long time (several weeks) this CO2 can ingress into the housing and cause this issue.

I should not that there are benefits to fermenting at low pressures but pressures above 10psi have a negative effect on the yeast so there is no reason to really be fermenting at higher pressures than 10psi.

One thing we have been considering is changing the o-rings in the pill to EPDM as EPDM has about 30times lower gas transmission rate than silicone.
If you dont mind me asking what pressure was the fermenter at prior to opening up the lid.

If you purchase the Pill from us please contact our customer service team and we will supply you with a free replacement.
Any info on the development of these?

Wouldn't the have the opposite problem to the silicone rings? The silicone rings pop because there is 10psi differential (pill is high pressure) when the fermenter is cracked.

Wouldn't the O-rings simply fail in the opposite direction, as now the differential will be the same but opposite direction? The fermenter is 10psi and the pill is 0 psi?

Or is it more about how quickly the differential is applied.

Sorry if this has been asked before. In the last couple of days both S.G. and A.B.V. on my chart have become a straight line. I at first suspected the problem was in the cloud as I noticed the same losses in all my previous saved brews and expected it to come back, but hasn't. Both on the chart running at the moment, and in my previous charts all of the S.G. and A.B.V. have gone to a straight line. The S.G. line seems to show the correct information if you scroll along it with the mouse, but the A.B.V. just shows 100%. Temp is still reading and updating as per normal every hour. Any ideas and thanks in advance.

Have you tried using one of these?

It would probably help if you send us some screenshots of the issue so we can better look at the issue. If you happen to send us the last 6 digits of your mac address for the device that would also be helpful

Need help please. I've purchased a RAPT pill to compliment my RAPT temp controller for my fermenting chamber.

While i've been able to connect the temp controller, and the RAPT Pill into the RAPT cloud, i am not able to calibrate it. I've managed to get the pill to connect to my local wifi, and send data to the RAPT cloud (which i can see), what i doesn't show is power level.

When i try calibrate it, i connect to the pill via wifi, while it's charging on the wireless charging thing i purchased with it (my pill was pre-configured for this), as soon as i take it off to put in the water it immediately looses connection.

So, i'm wondering if i have a faulty battery, or dodgy connections. Just to restate, i got it prebuilt so have not touched this side of things (other than removing the tape between the battery - perhaps this is the issue?).

Please help, as i'm super keen to have this for my next brew!

Hawk.

Also, the visible seal does on the clear side of the pill, i'm guessing i shouldn't tighten it so far that the coloured top makes contact, as i feel that would ruin the thread. This correct?

If you feel it's really tight you can lubricate the seal. You will not rewin the thread though. You should do the housing up so both o-rings are covered to ensure the most reliable seal.

Also if you do not see the power level then you have not charged the pill for long enough. Can you please follow the instructions exactly:
https://docs.rapt.io/equipment/rapt-pill-hydrometer

Notice that we say the initial charging period is 24hrs. Did you do this?

Can you please open it up and take a photo of the battery inside the cradle so we can try and diagnose the issue.
