F fingers Well-Known Member Joined 31/8/03 Messages 55 Reaction score 0 1/9/03 #3 it's a shallow cup shaped plate with short legs under it, on the top side of it your syphon hose is attached.It makes it easier to rack large amounts of beer all the way to the bottom of the fermenter without disturbing the gunk on the bottom.

I think it was called a racking cane. basically its just hard plastic tube with a red plastic racking plate inserted in the bottom. | | \ | | / \____/ dodgy ascii art of the racking plate. cost from memory was less than 50 bucks.
