bah,
each time i go to take a look at the review its at work. and for some reason my work has blocked amazon.!?!? of all things.
I'm always up for some beer porn literature doc, are you looking at a purchase.? maybe you could email the review.?

Given you aren't being overwhelmed with replies/reviews Doc I'll throw my 2 cents in...

I haven't read this book. However I have read a lot of his articles/recipes/reviews in BYO magazine and I really like his stuff. Seems to have an enormous knowledge of German beer styles and can communicate his research well. If the book is anything like his articles it would have to be worth a punt surely? Might look it up myself,

Shawn.

That is what I was thinking Gough, but seeing as the book was written a few years back and it doesn't have many reviews, and I don't know of anyone with it, I'm a bit wary. I may post to Brewboard and see if those guys have any comments.

I've got the Altbier book. I must admit that Dornbusch writes a little outside the Classic Styles box. He was the first author in that series to advocate the use of a pump for wort recirculation. :beerbang:

That said he was dogmatic in the belief that a brewer could only produce a good Alt via a step-infusion or decoction mash.

Pros & cons. I'd say like Shawn though. He's well in the loop with German beers. :super:
