Hi All, Matt here.
-Pepsi just exported another large batch to China!
-Pepsi just DOUBLED THE PRICE of kegs to us due to their concept of "supply & demand" (they realize they have very few good condition kegs left)
-This may be THE LAST SALE we have. After this, we have to match Pepsi's cost increase!
-WILL SHIP TO AU VIA USPS AS ALWAYS - forget the UPS ONLY Part.
-At this price we can't include the free gasket sets. They are $2/set

-If you want, you may buy direct without ebay by paypalling. Our PayPal email ID is: c&[email protected]
If you want to go through eBay then the link is shown below:

Thanks for the heads-up Matt. Just ordered four (ebay peter438beer). ;)

Cheers

I'm not surprised about the China order - we recently took an enquiry for 100,000 secondhand units for a Chinese beverage manufacturer. Note enquiry - there arent that many secondhand units left anywhere! And the new made in China price is around A$80 each when ordering by the 000

I deleted them.

Boozy, this sort of thing gets you in the bad books, mate. Learn how we use this forum before you post any more. Getting on with the existing community will get you a lot more out of any site.

Cheers,
PoMo

To those that have ordered from these guys before - how close to the mark is their freight calculator?
I'm going to order 4 kegs and have just checked the freight to Darwin US$72.70 - jeezus.

ntboozer,
the first batch I got from Matt were postmarked at $65.80 - that is to Canberra. However it seems the postage price provided by the calculator is what you pay, no refunds, if that was the direction of your question (I did an offline credit card rather than payal - some 6 months back).

So I ended up paying the 72.20 postage quoted and 4x$25 for the kegs (everything in US dollars). Given the end price of them landed at my door a few bucks extra (apparently for the custom fitted box mentioned in the ebay listing) was the least of my concerns. I understand that ordering from Brewers Discount means you may get the postage at the cost the post office charges (no charge for the box? someone else might confirm that?), but they still have kegs at $14@.

Darryl

Edit: to clarify the difference between the "actual" and the "charged" shipping is apparently due to the custom fitted boxes mentioned on their eBay listing.

Jeez, with all these kegs going to China, you' think the lifespan of SS keg production would be assured, not limited?! Perhaps I'm missing something here - one minute the Chinese (or was the Japanese) prefer the beverage bladder in a box style and now they're ordering kegs by the thousands...

If I was an entrepreneur, and not a brewer, I'd setup a cornelius keg plant and start schmoozing the Chinese!!

ntboozer - my kegs to Canberra were around $66 for a box of 4...

Cheers,
TL

Thanks all for the speedy replies.
I'll be placing an order now that I know this freight charge is the norm.

Someone can buy 2 from me if they want, I was only going to keep 2 and hope to sell the other 2 for a little profit, lol...

But seriously, if any body wants 2 kegs, I will sell them for obviously 1/2 of what I pay, there already orded anyway so I will get them either way.

You can check the price of freight before you buy, if you think it's too high - nobody's twisting your arm - don't go ahead. I've ordered four kegs for about $40 (Australain) each delivered to my door. That's of what I pay from my local HBS. Sure, I have to wait 12 weeks, but that's already explained. If you don't like the freight or the wait, pay twice the odds. Make the decision yourself, but don't complain when the costs have already been clearly and honestly detalied.

Yeah, you pay what the calculator tells you too...BUT...

No need to be a pr*ck man, NT obviously was not already aware of this and I see no need for you to rag on him for asking like that

You carry on like he's having a b*tch when all he was doing was trying to get the facts straight first...

Sorry, but I don't think I was "ragging" on anyone. Nor do I think I was being a pr*ck - man. If that's the way it came across, I'm truly sorry. The word "jeezus" suggested to me that ntboozer objected to the freight costs. I just pointed out that the freight costs were clearly identified. So, all I was doing was pointing out the fact that all costs were available for everyone to see and make their own decision on whether to purchase or not.

No preaching, no pr*ckdom, just suggesting you make your own decision as to the value of what is being offered. I, for one, think Matt's offer is of value.

Cheers

I thought the freight cost was pretty reasonable. I once brought a pair of shoes from the states, they cost 35us dollars, so the 72 us for 4 kegs is pretty good.

WOW! Matt Here.
-Maybe -I- need to calm everyone down here, instead of the other way around....like some of my last posts where I chewed somebody out and I needed to take a chill pill.... WOW!

-RE SHIPPING COSTS: Ok everyone, here is what is happening;
-The AVERAGE weight per keg is 9.2 Lbs. There are weight differences based upon Mfg, type/batch/thickness of rubber, etc. Some kegs weigh as low as 8 Lbs, some as high as 12.5 Lbs.
-It would be IMPOSSIBLE to quote the freight cost beforehand, for each box of kegs, so in the freight calculator we set the weight of each keg at 10 Lbs.
-Now the box gets to the Post Office... The box might have an actual weight of 37 Lbs, or 44 Lbs. Some ACTUAL costs might be less then the seventy somethng quoted, sme ACTUAL costs might be higher. It all averages out.
-One of the factors of the shipping rate links is that it includes the cost of those real nifty custom fitted shipping boxes you have all come to love and want (to see at your door). So..... If you went someplace to look up the cost purely by weight, you would get a different quote then through the shipping links on the ebay page, that DOES take into account the different factors related to the costs of shipping.
-I hope that explains how the shipping quotes are figured.
