I racked my beer yesterday and originally it was completely clear on top. Today I have noticed some fine white froth developing on top, not very thick and in patches. The beer seems to smell and taste ok.

Is this infection?

Should I bottle?

Hi BruceL,

I think there is nothing to be worry about.

A possible reason could be, that a rise in temperature causes a outgassing.

Cheers

Totally agree with Zwickel. The other reason it may have happened is that by racking you have got a bit more yeast in solution and have a little more fermentation happening. Either way, no need to worry. :)

If it starts to form a skin, then youare in trouble.

Otherwise it could just be some co2 rising up through the wort. Made me panic the first time i ever saw it happen.
