I have found a new favourite beer In James Squire's Porter and would like to make one. The only recipe i have found so far is on Country Brewer's website on their recipe page using a TCB Old Porter Wetpak and 24g of Fuggles.

Has anyone used this kit and recipe or has anyone got a better one using kits?

Any comments appreciated.

Try a 1.7kg ESB Stout can + a 1.7kg ESB Pale Ale can. Steep some Crystal & Choc Malt (100g of each) and throw some Goldings pellets in as well.

I've recently made a porter using an ESB fresh stout kit, 200g choc grain (steeped for 20 mins then boiled for 10 mins with an EKG plug) and dry english yeast. Haven't tried it yet (only a few weeks ago) but when racking to a keg it tasted good for very green beer. Dead easy too.

I'm also a huge fan of the JS Porter. Note, I've only made 6 brews to date.
I tried the Cascade Choc Mahogany Porter with Brewcraft #20 enhancer, 100g maltodextrin & 1 Tbsp Molases. Its too green yet for a review but hasn't the real dark colour of the JS Porter.

I might use the Coopers Dark Ale as a base for my next attempt at a porter.
