Looking at purchasing one of these to play around with. Anybody else used one?

They look pretty simple and no mess.

Yeah I have one yet to set it up and use but looks simple enough

Agreed. I ended up with more beer all over the walls and myself than I did in the bottle. Havent used it since.
Phoney...your talking about the carbonation cap... correct?

I have one of the Keg King carbonation caps - they do a great job, one of the dual style ones that accept both gas / liquid. They are super handy to get 1/2 a tallie of beer from the fermenter, chill in the freezer for a while in an PET bottle then force carbonate to test the quality of the beer before you keg / bottle it.

In saying that, I really want one of those CPBF's mentioned in the first post, you can actually use them as a pass-through and attach a tap on the end. Be a little quicker then disconnecting everything and putting the carbonation cap on as it is always connected. This is the tap setup from All-Inn Brewing that they have posted on their facebook page, Ross told me the other week to checkout their setup when I was asking him about that filler.

If I recall correctly, someone made a little retainer ring out of a cut up stainless washer to allow you to use crown seal bottles with the OP's CPBF
May have been Batz?

Florian has one, he might like to comment if he sees this thread.

seen that set up in action, works a treat. The bottle I bought stayed carbed perfectly.

yep that was Batz.

There is a good thread regarding these CPBF's somewhere. I have one of these set up on my fridge, biggest drama with mine was keeping clean between uses. Don't really use it any more. Much easier to use the Perlick growler filler for beers on the run. If I was going for a comp or long term storage I would probably use the CPBF again.

Cheers

Pretty sure this is the link ---- http://aussiehomebrewer.com/topic/45197-font-mounted-counter-pressure-filler/

Agree with Brad that you must keep the CPBF clean. If dried beer sticks the ceramic plates stick together, don't force the top lever or you are dead in trouble. ;)
Run a hot water/sanitiser mix through the filler working everything back & forth for a few minutes after every use & you will have no hassles.
Agree again about comps or long-time storage.

Agree with everything that Pete said that Brad said.
