So I've been here about 3 weeks now and I've got to say, I really like the place. There is no such thing as traffic or queues, it's toasty warm all the time, amazing scenery and landscape, you can swim in the sea... But.. and it's a big but.. it has nothing of a beer or brewing scene to speak of. There is one place that does a reasonable array of craft beer, so there's that at least. What can be done to fire up something of an interest in craft beer? From what I can tell there's probably less than a handful of Darwin based users of this forum and from what I can tell, few of them have posted anything recently.

I'm going to drown my sorrows in a single stubby of NT Draught.

That bar is the precinct I am guessing. Food is pretty expensive there. And so is the beer. But they do have a couple of decent beers there.

Ahhh Darwin, when I lived there I wasn't really into craft beer so I don't really have anything to add there.

Food on the other hand...

Prickles (Mexican in parap)
Bogarts modern Australian in parap
Fanny bay super pizza, pricey for a pizza but worth it
Tasty house, Chinese, smith street mall, get the Cantonese duck.

Hope these are still as good as when I lived there, that was 3 years ago.

Probably start getting used to everything taking a while to get done, not much happens too quickly up there.

Slightly OT but......... You swim in the sea in Darwin???? Don't you worry about being eaten by the the hungry handbags?

Best thing about Darwin, forget the beer and the food just go and run amok amongst all those backpackers, females from all over the globe wearing a puffteenth of fck all.
Backpacker season, aka dry season is probably done now, plus with a ratio of 7 guys per girl, it's not exactly favourable odds.

Ok, perhaps not swimming in the sea. Or rivers. There was even a big spider in my apartment block pool on Saturday.

Hahaha yep, might amuse the ex pat the most that one.

Traditional place though, nonna in the kitchen dictating to likely 3 generations of family and red and white checkered table cloths.
