Hi All,

Just thought I would make sure we all have a good heads up for this one so we can get those German lagers going. I already have my Dopelbock fermenting away, getting ready for a long lager. But dont forget about the Weizen's, though they need less preparation.

And yes, I am well aware that Oktoberfest is mostly in September, but October is easier to remember, and gives us an extra month to get things ready.

This one is due to be held at Oldfield Cellars, and I will get them to pick out a couple of commercial German beers for the occasion.

Got my Dusseldorf Altbier fermenting right now. I have a German friend living in the Cologne region who tells me this is not a real beer. I guess it's a bit like the Sydney/Melbourne thing.

I was thinking of having a crack a Munich Helles, or a 'Fest Bier.
I'm not a huge fan of pale lagers though... but summer is coming.
Guess I could go a hefe.

Putting down a Munich helles and black Forrest Schwartz bier tomorrow. Got a stir plate going at the moment for the yeast. Had to modify recipe a little due to the size of the starter required. Liquid yeasts are a pain....... don't often brew lagers but a good test. No hops and dark malts to hide behind.

My munich dunkel turned out really well. Maybe one of the best beers I've ever made.
Was it the 9 week lagering? Or perhaps the fermentasaurus? Who knows!

It's very pleasing nonetheless.

I seriously think I'm gonna go for a hefe, but the keg of stout blew last weekend: No stout - a revolting predicament. (decisions, decisions)

Well a heffe really only takes a couple of weeks. Fill your kegs then do the hef

This is next weekend guys.
I have a doppelbock, an eisbock (2 weeks in bottle) and a wit.

@mr_wibble did you end up getting the extra pretzels? If not, I can grab a pack (or 3 ;)) for the meet
