Was fortunate to be in Dunedin this week and took the opportunity to visit both Emmersons and Speights. Had a great tour of the Speights factory, much history and very interesting - shame they don't sell in Australia, didn't mind the gold Ale.
Emmersons sell a fantastic porter - highly recommended. Recent takeover by Lion evident in the new shiny digs, bit over TT. Located close to the Rugby stadium for obvious sales advantages, but dingy views of a petrol station underwhelming, especially when a beautiful harbour is only a few hundred metres away.
Dunedin is a great little city, sort of like a mini Melbourne, well worth the visit although be warned - kiwi hipsters abound.. Beers at the 'factory door ' were still pricey. A few of the local pubs were better with 10 dollar jugs for the Otago uni students... and anyone else.
