Ignore the writing as that is just filler. The label picture, logo and font are correct.

The beer is an American Style Amber Ale

Too masculine!
That 1st one is intimidating,as if the ol man is remonstrating with you over some trivial teenage frustration(generation gap)

second one looks like a laborers hands and need s a ciggy between the fingers above your logo.

Where is 4?

mmmmm i'm not really feelin the love with this one merc. The black n white thing, plus the added image of a half emtpy beer glass in the hand of an old man, i think it looks like one of those ads the government puts out to curb alcoholism.

Sorry to be the kill joy. :(

Hope you wanted honest

VL.

I chose the third label, purely because the image promotes thought & reflection.

This is what immediately comes to mind anyway :super:

mmm,a bit arty farty maybe? but yeah i reckon not bad at all. sort of having a beer and talking with your hands (as we do) is this what you were trying to get at with the labels..... do you realise how much this interlectual thinking has drained my brain space ,and its friday evening too. shit am knackered now.. :p

Yeah... with big b...eer glasses :)

I agree, sorry mate I'm not a fan of any of them:
1 is a bit too aggressive looking
2 looks like it should have VB in the glass
3 is a bit depressing, reminds me of a sad old drunk

(But at least I'm honest)

Yep gunna give it a thumbs down, they all seem a bit busy to me -_-

look like they should be on an AA advertisement. Sorry but too scary for me

They went down well then

Back to the old drawing board :p

Batz

Sorry Marc but wouldn't press the buzzer for any of these. :(

Ouch! Yep I wanted honest! Spog and PhilS get the prize for understanding where I am coming from with this label - as for topless chicks on the label that would be too easy and there is already that Belgian beer on the market with the scratch (and sniff) bottle label.

Arty farty? yep! I am trying to do something a bit different. Thanks for your comments and I look forward to more. I will persevere with the idea.

Oh and Barfridge the sad old drunk is my Dad Gus. :)

maybe a monochromatic image rather than monotone (sepia style effect) would warm it up a bit. I think it's ok imagery, (maybe a bit uni student rather than pro, but that might be your target demographic) but it's not evoking the right kind of emotion. Gus needs to be enjoying that beer like no beer has ever done before, but as the fellas said, it's not conveying that emotion.

Well the theme certainly is different. I don't mind the black and white thing at all.

The comments about the mood you are trying to set really depend who you are trying to reach. I mean do you really expect the VB crowd to have a crack at an American Amber Ale?

If your beer is really good, then the distinctive label will really help branding. I personally don't buy beer based on the label but then homebrewers aren't really a big slice of the market.

OK... I like the idea of 1 and 3... but

#1 should be a wine label... reminds me of the De Bortoli radio ads... it has potential though... currently could be interpreted as "talking with hands" or "reprimanded by dad"... I guess this is because of the hands being closer together (directed at the other person), but a more open hand gesture may struggle to fit the label?... maybe use a fisheye lens?

#3 is good but a little too serious perhaps.

Certainly distinctive though.

Certainly not expecting the VB drinker to buy the beer. The label and the beer is aimed at the girl or guy that is interested and looking for something different, something new. In some ways the label is a little more wine label based so will also hopefully appeal to the wine connoisseur.

Plan to have a look at the label in a sepia tone on Monday.

edit: didnt see your reply darkhouse but I am glad you picked up on the wine label relationship.

Woo-hoo American Amber Ale :beerbang:
