I am just getting into brewing and want to buy a full ready to go mash kit budget is around $1000 would anyone assist or point me I the right direction regards Wayne.

I think cheeky peak have a lot for around $600 with an urn etc ready to go for BIAB

Could look at the grainfather.
Or get set up for a lot less with biab and use the spare for kegs, ingredients, etc.

Hey mate,
I have pm'ed you with some info about gear I have - let me know what you think.
Cheers

Nugget81 is selling some good looking gear and is located in Melbourne. Check out his for sale page

I'm sure he'd be willing to drop the price on his pots for a job lot.

Something like this unit you talking about
Cheeky peak Unit
Both these units use thermowell with a BIAB system, I'd be a little worried about ripping the bag with the thermowell when lifting out.

Anyone use a thermowell with BIAB?

With my BIAB system I wrap the kettle with blankets, it only loses maybe a degree over a one-hour mash, not a big deal.

How the hell would you get the bag out the thermowell is 13cm!

i dont use a thermowell either on my vessel,i measure before and after. :icon_offtopic:

I use the long thermowell in my Biab setup... In a 50 L keggle and now in a 70L pot. I just lift the opposite side of the bag up first and it slips out.

I use a cray pot with bag in it. Which makes it easier to lift and drain and keeps the grain bag away from thermowell and element.

Thanks for that, pity its a set, was hoping i could just get the insert for the urn.

I bought mine off eBay. Costed about $150 for a 42lt pot and basket. Fits in my 48lt urn nicely.
