Hi there, Returning to the home-brew scene after 20 years missing in action. could someone point me in the direction of a good 'how to start' thread? I am thinking that things may have changed a bit in that time!!

Also keen to hear from any Sydney people where they think a good shop is in the Ryde area.

thanks in advance,

Mud

Hi mate - welcome back

Not aware of a shop in the Ryde area. ESB in Peakhurst or Nick the Barleyman (site sponsor) in Padstow are probably your closest with decent ranges of grains, hops, yeast etc. Really depend on what you're doing (kits, extracts, all grain) and what you're looking to acquire (ingredients, equipment etc), as there's also Asquith homebrew (oddly enough in Asquith) buts that mainly kits and bits. Personally I buy ingredients (and increasingly equipment) from Nick the Barleyman as he's a top bloke

ryde the middle of the home brewing black hole of sydney. I'm next suburb over in denistone east.
basically its ether thornleigh, north sydney, padstow, peakhurst or asquirth. nothing in the area.
it depends on what level your looking at? kits extract or all grain.
im also a member of the isb aka inner sydney brewers. we meet the first wed every month.
