So I put a batch of saison on yesterday with belle saison yeast. Heard some bubbling a few hours after. This morning I was out the back and had a listen and couldn't hear the bubbling so I opened the fridge door to see my first bubbling krausen through the airlock.

Im guessing I just pull out the airlock and clean and sanitize it ? Anything else to worry about ?

Yeah pull it out and sanitize and then put it back in and away you go... no worries at all. If there is any gunk around the blow hole, clean that up too.

thanks guys . glad i caught it. it was making a hell of a mess in there .seems to have settled down now

turns out I over filled. I was drinking a few beers while I put it on and filled my 25 l ferementer to 24 liters not 23 in the recepie .

there is sitll a little gunk in the airlock but no way to get it out . figure i'll get a 2nd one as a back up and give this one a good soak in pink stuff

2L headspace is still pretty minimal on bigger beers or more active yeasts. I have had a RIS with ~33% headspace (21L in a 30L fermenter) blow out.
