Wasn't thinking too clearly this morning when I started brewing. I made an ESB LCPA clone and instead of using the S05 I used the S04 which I can't see being a problem.

But I'm left with an ESB Irish Dry Stout kit and the S05 american ale yeast for my next brew. What do you guys reckon? Buy another S04 or would the S05 be suitable?

Cheers.

I would of thought for a stout the ale yeast would be fine

I've made stout using us-05. Its neutral character means it's fine.

Don't worry about it.

Thanks guys, will use the 05 yeast.

I have a few bottles left of the same stout made with the 04 so it'll be interesting to see what difference the 2 yeasts make to the finished beer.

Will keep you posted.
