I imported a few of these about 6 months ago, for myself and a few mates. I made a small order to begin with, planning to buy more if the quality was good. Unfortunately, as nice as they looked, there were a few issues. They claim they're 304 stainless, however all of them started rusting shortly after use (one had rust on it on arrival). The tap setup is also pretty junk. I opted for the better quality regulator as I'd used the smaller keg king style regs before and wanted something with a little more control. The reg is fine (although every time they're used they leak overnight, so need to be consumed in one sitting), but the tap/dip tube setup is terrible and you're never able to get a consistent pour (and I've had many different keg setups for nearly 10yrs now so I know how to fiddle with them). They include a small plastic flow restrictor that just causes turbulence and foam, even at the lowest pressures. And of course the tap is a crappy tap.

As far as prices went, I got quotes from 3 different suppliers, who all claimed they were the ones in China that made them and no one else did. All of their prices were the same, they just had different versions of the tap setup. They will tell you that they can't do a lower price, but if you keep arguing and pitting them against each other, prices get halved. Based on an order of at least 48 of each, the cheapest I could negotiate was basically:

2L keg, no tap, including freight - $30
2L keg, with tap setup, freight - $115
4L keg, no tap, including freight - $40
4L keg, with tap setup, freight - $125

There are a few options when it comes to the tap setups - you can opt for a much cheaper nylon cap with bronco tap for $10 + the cost of the reg. But again, they're pretty junk. For the cost, you may as well buy a 9L corny. The other thing is, the 4L with the tap setup attached is an awkward size, not fitting in even the largest esky standing up and you can't lay it down otherwise the tap will inevitably get knocked on. I much prefer using my 9L cornies with a 500g bottle of CO2, all fitting in the one esky.

I can see what you mean - those numbers built up fast. Just as well it's an Expression of Interest only. No one's set on a supplier nor a price.

I've seen these kits around for $250 - $180 here in Australia so far and I'm guessing we can reach a step below that. But we'll see.

I've been making good beer for about 18 months now and no matter how excellent my ale is, when I dispense it out of a recycled PET bottle at a party / function its kinda like I'm the dodgy home brew guy....

Hey Yob. I'd be super keen, but I'm 99% sure it'll be over my budget.
Pity they're not ball lock tops; then I'd maybe go one if each. But with needing to buy the tap config also it'll prob be too high for my stingy budget. I'll follow the thread and see what happens, but I'm fairly sure I won't participate so I'll stay off the EOI list for the time being.

Wow..... that is an eye opening review.... I'll be considering that if this migrates from an EOI. I think based on this getting the one without dispenser and then adding some corny fittings directly to the lid with a dip tube might be a better solution than the dispenser referred to!
