Can't say I've used it myself either, but have heard it's the best wheat malt to use for hefeweizen's. Would love to give it a go..... but 25kg is a lot :unsure:

Yes, very true and agreeable (probabaly shouldnt have put "wheats, wheat"). Although to clarify, what i was getting at is it expected that the grade or variety of wheat to be any different for weyermann wheat/weyermann weizen? Is it just a name change for the product (from what i was aware) or a standard/premium malt release?

A little further off topic and not that i have tried weyermann's wheat recently but comparing the weizens i made 12 months back with 100% weyermann and 100% JW malts, using identical grain bills, the differences in malt profile where SFA and certainly nothing major from what i remember (besides being 15 odd $ worse out of pocket for the weyermann.) I think the only real difference i could detect where the pils malt characters, i remeber the JW being somewhat 'sweeter' and the Weyermann example dough-like (which may have been the wheat and the pils taking a backseat).

If it is a reinvented malting of their wheat, it might not hurt for me to give it a go again sometime soon. If its the same, i'll probabaly continue to stick with the JW varitey as it gives me the results im after.

Yep it might be a little OTT. But still... it's only going to cost $7 worth of it for a 23 litre batch. Part of the fun I get out of brewing is experimentation with different ingredients so I'm happy to shell out a little extra. It may turn out to be the same as regular weyermanns wheat malt but as they say "if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten"
