Alright, post your favourite covers here.

Name, title, and who did it originally, with the Youtube link.

Bad: brighter death now (orig Michael Jackson)
Mercy seat: Johnny Cash (orig Nick cave and the bad seeds)
Won't back down: Johnny Cash(orig Tom Petty)
Passenger: Souixsie and the bad seeds (orig stooges)
Foxy Lady: The Cure (orig Jimi Hendrix)
Dirty old town: The pogues (orig Ewan MacColl)
And the band played waltzing matilda: The Pogues (orig Eric Bogle)
I put a spell on you: Diamanda Galas (orig Screamin' Jay Hawkins)
All the pretty horses: Coil (and Odetta but more a traditional song rather than a cover) orig - who knows?
Love will tear us apart: Swans (orig Joy Division)

Least favourite: Downtown train by rod stewart (orig Tom Waits)
Also find most Marilyn Manson covers pretty terrible.

Youtubing up to anyone interested - too many to search for right now while I procrastinate.

I quite like Zoot's pumped up version of Elanor Rigby (The Beatles)

I think you could include pretty much every track from Johnny's cover album(s) and not put a foot wrong. He took them all to another place.

Agreed, and I was about to post that before even reading the thread!

However they weren't "cover albums". There was a few originals in them as well.

Also I reckon the original of "My Life" (The Beatles) is better, and his version of "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" is probably on par with the original. All of his other covers are better than the originals!

Rolf Harris Stairway to Heaven...

Easy Star All Stars - Dub Side of the Moon. Pink Floyd cover (duh)

this album is a spin out if you've already listened to Dark Side of the Moon enough times that it's ingrained in your brain.

Do you really think Pennywise' cover of Land Down Under is good? Do you actually listen to it and say "Wow, this is a great song, I love the way they did this and that".

I just can't believe that anyone could think that.

Johnny Cash - Rusty Cage

William Shatner - Common People

Metallica - Am I Evil

Tea Party - Paint it Black

Cheers SJ
