Been doing ginger beer batches over the summer using a home made plant from organic raisens.
I haven't treated the plant brilliantly well, occasionally only topping up after a week or so. Since my last batch a couple of weeks back have noticed the plant not "taking up" any top ups and the solution staying very sweet. Was thinking that the plant must be dead but can't really think how it might've happened.
I've generally topped up with a mix of LDME and cane sugar. Any thoughts???
