I was cleaning out another keg this morning and noticed that it had a small tube from the gas inlet, the one i cleaned and filled the other day didnt have one.

How necessary is it?

Should i degas that keg and put a short tube in the gas inlet?

Or can i just relax and not worry about it?

Cheers.

some do some don't its not a problem.

I have one keg that has a missing gas dip tube, had no problems with it. Just made sure it isn't leaking.

Will depend on the type of keg
The Australian ones were made with a little dip tube that you can leave out no problems.
Corny and Spartanburg kegs use the small diptube as part of the seal on the post, they also set the height of the poppet valve and you really do need them in there.
There are a couple of exceptions but in general, if the keg has plastic/rubber top and bottom the gas diptube is required.
If in doubt take a couple of pictures and post them.
