G'day bloke's !
I'm looking at getting 4 Secondhand 18l Pepsi Kegs over to Perth from The CHI Company, LLC.
(Matthew Chitiea) (see this thread for more info).
I've been quoted $78 US for freight and $16 US per Keg. I guess the freight may increase with more kegs but the economies of scale may make this attractive ?? I'm fairly flex about when I order and it seems on most occasions it takes 12-15 weeks to arrive from the time of order.
Cheers
Doug

Brian Fitzgerald (preseident of westcoast brewers) has a business importing kegs. He onsells them to places like TWOC in bibra lake, and international homebrew in bayswater. I know Neil in Bayswater sells them for $65 each.
So is it worth waiting 12-15 weeks and not knowing about the quality of the kegs, just to save $10-15 per keg.

Very good point Barf,
For me I am happy to go down this path being the tighta&#se that I am. The $100 that I'll save will get me another tap on my fridge. I genuinely don't want to affect Brian's business either so perhaps I'll just leave the order to my 4. Mods feel free to 'make this thread dissapear' :)
Cheers
Doug

I wasn't trying to pressure you to buy off somebody, I'd never do that. I was just explaining options. I've heard some grumbles about the quality of the kegs from the USA, as the supply dries up the quality is seemingly decreasing. There's a huge thread about it here somewhere.

Hi there,

There has been a lot of controversy about these kegs however my own experience was a good one. $AU200 landed in the local post office. Took about 8 weeks to get here as I recall. The quality of the kegs was fine, they were still pressurized when they go here.

That was 4 kegs.

I've bought two lots of four kegs from Matt and each time they arrived within the quoted 12 weeks and holding pressure (and the first ones I bought were $10USD each). I know not everyone here has had pleasant experiences buying this way, but I was pleased with the results.

However, having said that I'd probably buy from Ross ($120 for two) if I ever need any more.

Cheers
Peter
