I do most of my searches on Duck Duck Go, but Google is still fairly good for local searches as DDG returns the same results for everybody all over the planet. However I often prefer searches such as Pizza Newcastle to be trimmed of results such as Geordie Pizza Shack Newcastle UK. But I digress.
For several years the Google main screen had a handy little toolbar for "images, maps, videos etc", that disappeared a few months ago. Google redesigned the main screen with that ******* annoying "images, apps" stuff off to the right.

However on doing your search the screen then goes to the second style of page and Bingo, your handy toolbar is back again.

Puzzled as to why the previous fairly smooth Google search pages have been deliberately made clunky and no longer seamless. This reminds me of Microsoft and Windows 8 - trying to fix what ain't broke and ending up with an inferior product.
