Hi everyone,

I try to keep abreast of the good and the bad of internet trading, but this scam seems particularly slick.

The following sites (including an 'Australian' tool supplier) are all operated by some scammers in the states:

http://www.mydv.co.uk
http://www.gardenready.co.uk
http://www.nepine.co.uk
http://www.oztool.com

They are all quite convincing, professionally laid out, with a 'local' contact phone number (that diverts to the states) and 'live chat' support.

The scam seems to be that they will take an order for expensive items and overcharge your credit card (blaming it, if questioned, on a 'currency conversion' issue). The order never arrives and the excuses drag out, and if really pushed they will eventually refund the original amount, leaving you to decide whether to try and sue them for the $50 or so you are left short. Most people don't, obviously, as they are so relieved to get the main sum back.

All of the sites are currently under investigation and "not taking any orders at this time", but I thought it can't hurt to raise awareness!

I only go for reputable sites like amazon and ebay to avoid this stuff... but it would still suck to get ripped off by these guys
