is there a general rule of thumb for hydrometer temp correction using Plato?
e.g if my sample is at 14 C @ 10.5 P and hydrometer is calibrated to 20 C

Mine came with a little table for temp corrections, but I don't use it very often because it only goes from about 10 - 25 C or something. I use this calculator and it seems pretty accurate in my experience.

Most brewing software has a hydrometer tool to correct SG for temp as well.

I think those online calculators are pretty accurate though. I use a couple of different ones for priming and adding LME on the odd occasion I happen to undershoot my SG.
