I used a cordless drill with a keyless chuck on my mill for about 18months before I switched over the the motor. The drill did leave a couple of small marks on the shaft, but nothing to worry about and I have no issues with it effecting the use.

I used a motorised drill, it caused a bit of damage to the shaft. I now have the same motor etc.. as Kev.

Another option to consider is the cheap 5 speed mini drill presses. they come with all the shrouds over the belts, on of switch etc & simply plug in. just saw a bunch of em on fleabay under $100 - cheapest was $30!

I recall MHB made & used (possibly still uses) one..

checkout this link http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/inde...showtopic=65243 which also has a link to MHB's http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/inde...mp;#entry140641

i've just scored a geared paper shredder - have started to pull it apart to use to drive my schmidling malt mill.

as far as I can see this offer from Motion Dynamics is still current $149 and that includes the speed controler

Use your arm(s). Remember to switch arms now & then.

Cheers blokes, BSC at Heathcote seems to be the closest Lovejoy shop, will try them on Monday.
1/4" to 1/2" Lovejoy coupling, $18 from BSC.
Delivery almost doubles the price but I couldn't be arsed waiting for it to come from the US to save $10.
