It didn't just blow the lid it ripped the plastic?

So that must have been one seriously carbed up brew for it to rip thru plastic?

I used a 2L mt franklin bottle, and also a 1.25L soft drink bottle (some sort of schweppes one, cant remember what it was) as a little experiement because i had a bit of brew still left in the fermenter and had ran out of bottles

The soft drink one worked fine, but yes, the water bottle just ripped a bit. So just stick to bottles which were made for being nice and carbed up :icon_cheers:

That appletiser stuff is fizzy as hell, waaaaay fizzier than any beer ive ever drunk, so why would the carb levels not be ok?

How many reuses are people getting out of Coopers/Morgans 740ml PET bottles ?

The reason I ask as I am on my third reuse and a few of the bottles seem to be weeping slightly from the bottom looks to be coming from the centre blip where they are moulded.

I don't think it is over pressure as there are pressure relief slots in the neck threads. Storage temperatures are always a problem up here in the tropics even in winter.

looks like I need to change my font size
