Hi Guys
Ive decided to build myself a conical fermentor as syphoning to a secondary is too fraught with danger and I wanna start harvesting my yeast. Initially I would have preferred to purchased a SS conical hopper from www.toledometalspinning.com in the States, but they didnt respond to my emails so I decided not to bother. However after reading this thread Plastic Conicals I have decided to go down the plastic conical fermentor route and purchase the 30l cone bottom tank from www.rotamoulding.com.au. Therefore I was hoping to get a steer on how you turn this

into this

I already have a fridge and I have measured it out to see if it fits and it does, so the things Im a little unsure of is what I need to do and buy to have a dump port value and side port value correctly installed? I havent ordered the cone bottom tank yet so I do I need to make any special request with rotamoulding like having port holes drilled in advance? Finally is there anything I need to take in account when building this like how difficult it will be to clean all the fitting in between brews considering it might be a bit of a ******* to get to the bottom of the tanks due to its length?

Cheers

Neil

Thanks for the link, I think that will come in handy when putting together my racking arm. However my conical container has come through and it has a rather handy thread at the base of the cone, which would be a shame not to utilise.

I've uploaded an image of the base of the cone and it measures 30mm in diameter although the plastic bolt states that it is 1" or 25mm. However I think this refers to the internal diameter of the bolt and not the cone.

So what I would like to do is to add a dump value that would utilise this the screw thread, which in should make it easier to disassemble when I need to clean it. Does anyone have any thoughts or know how who could point me in the right direction

Cheers

Blackwoods sell stainless valves & fittings - it's probably got an inch thread so if you take the plug along with you you'll see which type sit and it's all pretty simple really. A spigot a few washers and a valve.

Bring it over next week and we can sort it out... ;-)
