Just got a delivery from a work colleague of mine, 1kg of hop flowers!!!

3 varieties, Summer, Pacifica and Ella.

Problem is that i am a rookie and have never used flowers before.

Anyone got some sage words of advice for using these? Now I have to start all over again with recipes for my next brew.

Cheers

Chris

Send them to me, all your troubles will go away :)

Don't use them for bittering unless you know the AA%. Summer are great but a fairly understated hop, so best suited to pale beers with minimal competition (lager, faux lager, kölsch, saison, golden ale).

Use a hopsock or stocking - flowers block taps.
If you do know the aa and will be using some for bittering, use around 10℅ more by weight than you would pellets.

Flowers are awesome at dry hopping - and you can't overdo bitterness with this addition.

You could also look into using them in a HopRocket or randal.

Or an American blonde ale, don't forget the American blond(e). I use Glacier in mine, but there are many options
