Hi

I have yet to try my first batch of home brew beer and i am still in the stages of research.
I am trying not to get ahead of myself.
I sure i can get plenty of info from this website.
I know i should start simply, then progress with experience.

I do have a first question, can someone please help?

Is it possible to use screw cap wine bottles for my first batch of homebrew?
I know i can by the PET bottles, but i do have a lot of empty screw top wine bottles.

Cheers

wine bottles are not designed to take beer pressure so play it safe and ask someone on AHB for some spares.

Thanks Nev.

I don't want to mess up first time around with glass bottles.

Maybe a i'll get some PET's while emptying a supply of full Grolsch bottles.

I'll leave the wine bottles for...wine.

You could always start out with empty PET coke, lemonade, soda water or whatever bottles. If they're clear bottles then keep them away from light as that may produce some off flavours from the hops in your beer.

They already have them over in Kiwiland. When visiting last time my mum came back from shopping and threw a wine bottle at us while we were standing on stone floors. Scared the hell out of us until we saw it bouncing back off the ground.

Bloody Kiwis making us look like a third world country.
"Once were wine bottles", the sequal.
