Linz,

Shouldn't there be a pump in that list ? Or have I missed something ...

Tony my opinion is worth a grain of salt only having done two AG's (both with my HERMS). My heat exchanger is a 20L pot with a 1800 watt dishwasher element and a copper coil immersed in heated liquid. It is very much a suck it and see because of the variables in heat loss through both your MLT and the pumping system. I have a 10 Gal circular Gatorade tub and have found I only need to keep the Herms temp at around 70 (Via an Oatley electronics thermostat) to maintain 66 in my MLT. I am very much in the suck it and see phase as my mash temp has fluctuated too high on occasions after I tried Graham Saunders 75 on his HERMS page.
I will be looking to control the temp (manual at the moment) with reference to the mash temp and the liquor return temp.
Cheers
Doug
