Hi there
Just finished doing a smash
25l water boiled night before
5kg traditional ale malt and
30gm northern brewer hops
Mash in 54=15 25l water
62=30
65=10
71=30
Mash out 76= 5
Before sparged 1050
Sparged 5l water not boiled after sparged 1045
Before boils 1045
Boil 90 mins 102
Collected to fermenter at 21dg OG 1055
What i need to know is
i put in a 1/2 Whirlfloc tablet 5mins before the end of boil
NOW
i went off to have tea while it sat and settled
BUT
Forgot to turn off the heat came back and bugger
1 any harm done to the beer boiling the wort
2 i put another 1/2 Whirlfloc tablet stirred it up and waited
Clear to fermenter
Any help would be good
PS was sober at the time and no beers hurt

Am I missing something here? You boiled for longer than you desired?

If you just had a single hop addition, probably make zero difference other than losing a little more water to steam... If I'm reading right...

Don't use another whirlfloc they're actually meant to be added at 20 mins anyway

was told 5 mins from end of boil
ok i did a Pilsner and just use that same time

Use one tablet per 10 gallon batch
(For 5 gallon batches, cut a tablet in half.
Adding a whole tablet won't really gain you anything),
and add it with 5 minutes remaining in the boil.
Yes, 5 minutes is correct.
so now i am lost this is on google

The only problem I can see happening is the consequencies of using two whirlflocs. They could knock so much protein out of the beer it won't be able to form and hold a head. This is fairly likely so be prepared for it. Won't affect flavour/aroma. Could knock mouthfeel out of the beer as well. Adding some malto-dextrin could counteract this

I think its pretty forgiving. Edit:( Whirfloc)
5- 10- 20 minutes. All cool. Even if you double dose it, still cool. Nothing to panic about.
Unless I'm totally farkin wrong but . Only way to fark up with wirfloc is to not add it at all.
Then you get lasting cloudiness but that may be a preference in some cases too?

I have forgotten it before and to be honest, couldn't even tell. Beer was still clear in the keg and tasted great.

Its impact on the finished product is pretty minor in reality. I think it leads to less fermenter trub, as it helps you leave it in the kettle, which means you can harvest cleaner yeast. That's its major advantage in my opinion. It may help beer stability but i cant tell and my beers get drunk so fast i'm not sure it matters.
