Hi guys

A while back I brewed up a delicious red ale from a kit and I'm looking to convert a KIT to an all grain / hops schedule.
Obviously I don't know what's actually in the kit, but here's what I DO know about the kit:

Stats of KIT ONLY in a 23L batch:
EBC: 6.0
IBU: 13.9

I could probably more or less figure this out from the kit specs, but I thought I'd throw it out there and see what people came up with. Maybe someone's already done it with this kit!?

I don't care about lessons on hitting the "technical" specs eg IBUs because I can do this... I just wonder what hops etc might have been used to achieve.
FULL RECIPE!

20 litres
EBC: 27.5
IBU: 30 (estimate)
ABV: 5.7 (6.1 in bottle)
OG: 1.057
FG: 1.018 (seems high but it's just how it finished)

1 x 1.7kg Black Rock IPA
1 x 1.7kx Black Rock amber unhopped liquid malt extract
150g chocolate malt steeped
200g dry malt extract
25g Amarillo @ 0 mins, no chill rest for 15 minutes (equals approx a 10-15 minute addition)
Mangrove jack's english ale yeast

A little googling looks like the hops in the Blackrock East India Pale Ale are "Nelson" ie from the Nelson region of NZ.

Here's my attempt at an all grain replica...

Darkrock notanIPA Red Ale - 22L (70% efficiency)

5.0kg Pale Ale Malt
0.4kg Carraroma
0.3kg Carapills
0.15kg Choclate malt

10g Pacifica Gem @ 60min
5g Hallertauer Aroma (NZ) @ 20min
15g Amarillo @ 20min
10g Hallertauer Aroma (NZ) @ 5min
10g Amarillo @ 5min
Nottingham yeast, East Midlands Ale yeast or Mangrove Jacks english ale yeast

Est OG=1.057
Est FG=1.015
IBU = 27 (31 if you cube hop as below)
EBC = 31

(If you're no chilling you could just add all the Hallertauer and Amarillo straight to the cube, which would be similar to a single 15 min addition)

Note: This isn't truly an English IPA, the colour is too deep and the OG and IBU's aren't high enough.

Just my stab in the dark.

Cheers mate - I know it's no IPA it's closer to a red ale in colour/flavour.

I'll add this to my to-brew folder
