dealextreme digital scales (the two I ordered) are usually within .05g accuracy for every 50g when not being calibrated and used out of the box.

Take every scale box you find in a shop in Australia and turn it all around and see the gold oval made in china sticker on the box, or if not, open and look at the scale for the sticker.

Sometimes hidden by PRC marked instead of "Made in China" printed on the box or scale sticker, or part of the mold of the plastic on the scale.

PRC = [P]eoples [R]epublic of [C]hina, they print that because they know you will not like them (store you buy from locally) if you know everything they sell at high prices is straight out of China.

Illusion is, that in todays day and age that you are not getting something straight out of China if you follow the advertising, marketing or salesman hype on the product you are looking at on the shelf. I was in Beverly Hills, CA three years ago and went into the department store in a new shopping complex there. Everything was made in China from the perfume to the shoes to the housewares but the price stickers were $300 US Dollars and up :)

You are being sold image today not product, just have to adjust to the new reality.

The other reality is the money you paying is not going to China, but to the store you are walking into. China or HK reseller will gladly sell you the same item here for 1/5th to 1/9th the cost because thats more than they are being paid by the store you walk into down the street for the same item.
