I rarely mix them up done it twice now ,which aint bad , but at a mates he really got one stuck and it was my keg .

so I took an idea from Franko who is so bloody organised and labled them with a water resistant label .

and put the brew on the front too.

gas to the left beer out to the right .

should have done it years ago .

Pumpy,

You should have bought pin-locks :D

I hate to think the troubles pepsi must have had over the years with those connects.

cheers

Mine have IN and OUT stamped into the plastic near the posts, don't these?

Hey Pumpy
No big deal if you get them mixed up. You just need a long large screw driver, a hammer, a pipe extension, plasters for your knuckles.....oh yeah, good idea. How come I didnt get an invite to Zoes party?

Hey Pump, usually the gas in post is graphically marked or unusual in some way, or the keg is marked or identified in some way near the gas in post. There can be dimples or nipples in the rubber top or cut outs or unusual nuts on the gas in post or a notch at the bottom of the gas in post, in some cases IN and OUT are identified literally.

I have a standard in my brewery, WHEN I REPLACE A KEG LID I FACE THE GAS IN POST TO THE REAR- PUSH THE LID IN TOWARD THE GAS IN POST AND TURN TO THE RIGHT AND CLOSE DOWN THE CLASP. A slight glance at the top of any keg - with the clasp facing right the Beer Out Post is facing you. I also label each keg re the contents on the Beer Out side near the post.

Cheers,

Screwy

Pin locks sound worse Darren

Afro after ten pints of English bitter I struggle to see those plastic mouldings

GL yes the big screwdriver does work well , Zoe threw me out of the last party ,.

That sounds a good idea Screwy , I seem to make the mistakes when I am stone cold sober .

Pumpy,

It is impossible to push a "gas-in" fitting onto a "beer-out" with pinlocks (Two pin/three pin)

cheers

Darren

Pumpy,
Very neat but I fear too many words for an impatient &/ or sozzled homebrewer.
I just have GAS labeled. If I can't work out what to do with the other port, well it's time to give up for a while. :)

Gray - Gas - Groove. Black - Beer - Bare.

..........And when you take the wheel nuts off, lay them out so you can put them back on the way they came off.

How funny Screwy, we have the same standard.
Though I find I have to go in and anti-clockwise to get the handle on the right.
It's late so I'll forgive you :)

Rgds,
Pete

I put my kegs in the fridge so that my gas is on the right and the beer is on the left.

Try some lube next time Pumpy. It really helps when things get tight

Kabooby ;)

Nice work pumpy.
I only mixed it up once.
My very 1st keg. I have been tripple checking it since.
As my eyes getting worse I think I need to go the same path!

bahahahahahah! Gold!

Pumpy- is the labeller just one of those 'brother' type thermal doovalacky's?

Mine do too but depending on the light black on black can be pretty hard to see.
Near impossible when they are in a fridge.
It pays to keep a torch handy.

I have written "IN" with texter on the side of the keg as I too had this problem once. Yes they are marked, but very small and hard to see. I also numbered them so when I change the "O" ring on the posts I am sure I got them all. I change them every six months, and there are nine kegs to do.

Nothing useful to add Pumpy but those are the cleanest kegs i have ever seen. All of mine still have the stickers on them, hell, 2 even have my name and address still stuck to them from when they were posted to me! How did you clean them?

As for getting them mixed up, i bought one keg that had 2 gas in posts. Thankfully another Adelaide brewers had a keg with 2 beer out posts so we sorted that out.

All of mine have either in and out next to the posts or a dimple of the handles next to the gas in post.
