On Friday we went for lunch at a pub near the office, and as I ordered a pint of James Squire Golden, I noticed that the fonts actually had ice around them. I thought as a result that the beer itself wasn't as flavoursome as normal. Is it possible to serve beer too cold?

The lower the temp, the more aromas and flavours are muted (that's why megaswill tastes(?) best near freezing!). Generally ale serving temps are around 6-8 deg mark.

That said there has been plenty of debate about the flavour of JS Golden Ale and recent variations in its flavour.

Cheers SJ

Off topic a bit but what would be the serving temp for stouts.

Cheers Andrew
