On offer is an old motor salvaged from a cement mixer. Don't know too much about it except it's fairly dirty and greasy, and it's been dodgily rewired to include a switch (although would be easy to rewire properly in 5 minutes!).
From the plate, I have the following information:
ComPact motor
Made in Australia by
Brook, Crompton and Parkinson
Model: C/SA8264-P-CM
Hz: 50
Amps: 5.06
It's pretty high speed, although if (somehow) geared down a lot, it might be useful as a grain mill motor? Not sure. I know I don't have the knowledge to do it.
I posted this on freecycle and got the following response from someone who seems to know something about things...
I can post pics if required. Pickup is from Bayswater, and as mentioned, it's also on freecycle so PM me ASAP if interested.

is almost 2hp, 1250 odd watts
1hp==743Watts
prob synchronous motor
Check bearings and brushes, and will then,
if safely wired, be very servicable.
would be v good for home grain mill
