Evening all,
Aquired a font this week. Wondering if anyone knows how to remove the brass end bit. Is it simply a plug that won't budge? Asking here before the big hammer comes out of the shed.

It should screw out, however if it's like the one on mine was, it'll take a lot of force to do it. Don't damage it if you're planning on using the font flooded, as this will have a rubber o-ring underneath to seal the liquid in the font.

Cheers

agreed that it should screw out, I'd try something in the hole there thats long and strong. Ie tent pole (the one with a spike on the end) and use the length to make the rotation easy. That or a good big monkey wrench should do the trick! Dare say a pair of multigrips wouldn't be any good for that.

Use the fulcrum/lever principles rather than muscle.

I'll give a C spanner a go thanks MHB. If that fails, I might just leave it & try not to think about what's inside. Thanks all.
