First Time Brewer And Kegger

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if someone could give me some excellent advice as to what i should do next .
I'm 5 days into my first fermentation process and my final gravity reading are at 1014 for my Rogers beer and 1012 for my Stella. I believe tomorrow they should be ready.
Anyway i thought id go out and buy a kegging system toady as to avoid the troubles with bottling as well as enjoying a brew from tap.
My question is: what should i do next ? Should i place into secondary ( with any dextrose, gelatin or nothing at all ) or should I CC or just place the brew straight into the KEG.

Your help is much appreciated.

Ah, always ready to welcome a North supporter aboard. :beerbang:

Rooboy, if the brew looks sufficiently cleared, just put 'em straight into kegs, you probably don't really need to CC them. If any further fermentation occurs it will be very little and always easily compensated for in a keg. Maybe just store them for 2-4 weeks in the fridge before sampling.

I keg straight from primary and the resultant beer is fine.

Although I shouldnt, I leave the kegs at room temp for at least a week before they are chilledbut this is more to do with a lack of fridge space h34r:

*EDIT* - I should have added that once in the fridge, each keg usually sees up to a week of chilling before drinking begins anyway (balanced system, requires a forum search, I'm too lazy/drunk to explain it)...

I think i will just transfer straight to the keg as clarity seems to be very clear.

1 more question.
Because i have 2 brews and 2 kegs, what is the best method of haveing both kegs active in the fridge. Can i jjust place both kegs in the fridge to chill and carbonate both kegs, each for 2-3 days and then just alternate the gas connection and beer dispensing conection.

G'day Rooboy,
Assuming that the 2 kegs will fit in your fridge, you might want to consider the following setup:

(Carefully) Drill a hole in the side of the fridge for the gas line and fit a stainless t fitting on the gas line so you can carbonate both kegs off the one gas line - this of course means you carbonate both kegs to the same pressure. If you want to carbonate at different pressures, eg, one keg's a wit and the other's a stout, then you'll need a more sexy gas manifold system - or gas them separately with the one gas line, but it can be done.

(Carefully) drill two holes in the fridge door and fit two stainless shanks and taps / faucets (I recommend the Perlick tru-flow faucet - search for Perlick and you'll get a lot of info on this excellent tap elsewhere in the forum). Sure it means two lots of fittings and hose etc, but you then have the luxury of always being able to draw beer from either keg at any time that they're in the fridge.

You're lucky to be kegging from the start! I brewed for nearly 10 years before I got my kegs! h34r:

Gas fittings can be brass...I mean the regulator body is brass, so what can it hurt?

Thanks Guys,

I actually bought a gun to go with it so i can have mobilty as well.
Do you know how much a T-Piece would be and where would be the ideal situation to locate it on the gas line?

I sell SS T pieces with clamps for 15.00 ea.
Put the Tpiece just inside the fridge - this will provide a stop on the gasline.
U will also need another disconnect - i sell them for 15.00 ea or 27.50 for a pair.

rooboy, If you have a Andale close to you then I would check them out, they have all the beer dispensing equipment you will need and a lot cheaper than a HBS.
